The Edginess of Late Summer
by
Glen Sorestad

Next

Seasons are restless, queuing,
one behind another,
nudging, jostling, impatient
as adolescent boys
at a sports buffet.
Summer glances,
disbelieving,
at the calendar,
shakes its head,
but there is no way
to dissuade
antsy self-assertive Autumn,
its flamboyant pushiness,
its crimsons and golds.

Glen, Love the way you have personified this "impatient" season.

Loved this, but wish self-assertive autumn would push OUR way soon. It is 90 degrees here today!

Antsy, self-assertive Autumn is one way to describe it, perhaps more obvious in Canada than in the lower 48. Neat poem, short and to the point.

I particularly like: Summer glances, disbelieving, at the calendar, shakes its head, which feels all too familiar as I age . . .

Time marches on with an incredulous little jig in its step, dressed up for the party. Nice, as always, Glen.
