Baby Shower

That moment before your guests arrive–
your house all decked to the hilt with your finest.
Everything is in place, perfect.

I think the earth is putting on a baby shower
this first morning of June.
The baby blue sky is dripping down to meet
the light that has fallen from the heavens like confetti
on the green frosted earth, sprinkled with dew.
The sunlight is strung through the pines.
The theme is soft pinks, lavender, white.
Wild geraniums, peonies, astilbe, bleeding hearts, lilacs
are displayed for the guests of honor–
the chickadee hatchlings with their high-pitched peeps.
The first guests are a mama rabbit, the bumbling bees.
Hurry, this party won’t last long.

Wonderful turn of thought, Angela . . . nice fit for YDP'S 14th anniversary celebration. Jayne knows how to take a risk, followed by savoring the joy as "sunlight is strung through the pines."
