i love you, your babyness
your royally muskiness, duskiness
your secret dreaminess, schemingness
i love you, your babyness
i love you, your babyness
your curled in your velvety wrinkledness
your breath snorting runtiness, gruntiness
i love you, your babyness
i love you, your babyness
your yawn smelling milkily flavoredness
your sighing in shuddery shakiness
i love you, your babyness
i love you, your babyness
your legs jerking spasmod in spaciness
your fists flailing wildly, like craziness
i love you, your babyness
i love you, your babyness
your head gravely bobbing its braveliness
your bright eyes searching widely the vacantness
i love you, your babyness
i love you, your babyness
you've tied up my heartstrings to stayfulness
you've captured this castle in playfulness
i love you, your babyness

Phyllis Beckman begins her days with a candle, coffee, and Your Daily Poem. A lover of trees, she rues the loss of three ash trees from her Onalaska, Wisconsin corner lot to the emerald ash borer currently sweeping the area and is anticipating welcoming a replacement this summer. Phyllis says the "Driftless Area" is a beautiful setting for writing poetry and she credits the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets and Women Writers Ink for keeping her on task.

Love it, Phyllis! Brings back such sweet memories. Congratulations, Jayne, on your first grandchild -- there's nothing quite like it. Savor every minute....

I don't usually go for poems about babies or a poet's children, but I have to say I love this poem. So much fun to read aloud. It's a keeper.

I begin most of my days with a coffee and Your Daily Poem. Maybe I'll light a candle too, it's a thought. Phyllis, your poem is just a delight. To be read and reread by anyone who has ever watched a baby. I don't know when I've ever enjoyed anything more. A sincere thank you to you and Jayne.☕ï¸
