Spring

is nearing and I’m eagerly waiting for
that moment when—
the afternoon is warm, the gentle zephyr
quite soothing as bluebirds are chirping
on a maple tree, happy yellow
butterflies circling, nearby brook
babbling and as I lay on top of a green
hill, both arms pillowing my head, my
right leg slightly bent, smelling reborn
grass, nibbling on a daisy stem, looking
over a cloudless blue sky and shouting
out at the top of my lungs in my head—
“Ahhhh…spring!!!”
