Night Crawlers
by
Mark Lane

The other night I thought I saw something that just couldn’t be,
It’s impossible so I’d appreciate it staying between you and me.

It broke all of the laws of physics including time and space,
If what I saw were true then it would alter the human race.

The more I think about it I’m sure that something fooled my eye,
Probably just the moonlight reflecting off of something in the sky.

Or, more likely, it was a vision that I had while in a dream,
Just a hallucination sent to me from my subconscious stream.

Well, whatever it was that I saw it gave me quite a fright,
I think that I’ll stay up and see if it comes back for me tonight.

And if they do return I must be prepared to contemplate my fate,
I’d like to know if I’m what they’re fishing for or am I just the bait?
