Morning After A Spring Snow
by
George Wentz

Ribbons of snow blown by the wind
formed sculpted drifts beside the road,
wrinkles in a fresh white blanket
that covered the countryside.

The peaceful scene of nature's art,
painted along the rural churchyard fence
where souls had found their eternal rest.

On this early morn, by one headstone,
a visitor had already been
leaving an inscription in the fresh snow
that simply said -- "Love".

A tender message from a lonely heart
left to seep slowly into the earth
under the sun's warm rays, reaching down
with thoughts and memories from above.
