The
by
Chuck Joo

Every sentence needs The
Well, almost every sentence.
The is present somewhere in a paragraph
But no one wants The every time
The gets to lead some nouns
But at the end of the day it’s just an article

So The wanders around the sentences
With no particular word to belong to
Only to be misplaced or neglected

Unappreciated and unhappy
The decides to end it for good

Wait! Don’t do it, The!
We need you, The!

Too late, says The,
And jumped off a 20-line paragraph.

End.

See, we needed you, The!
