The Fair Fisherman
by
George Wentz

When I go fishing
I don't use bait --
it just tricks the fish.
I sit in my boat
dangling an empty hook
to help any fish
that wants to come aboard.
By sunset I have seen
many clouds passing by
and heard all the birds
sing their different songs.
My stringer though is empty
and when asked if I had any luck
I simply say --
They weren't biting today.

I like this. It's compassionate.
