Rebuttal
by
Eileen Ziesler

Why should I dedicate my time
To the scientific method.
If the jelly doesn’t stick
When I throw a little bit?

You have to throw a little jelly
To see if it will stick.
And leave the rigors of the science
To the jelly scientist.

Is it sweet? Is it clear?
Is the formula just right?
Did you analyze the surface?
Will it hold the jelly tight?

While you mull these questions over,
That jelly just may slip.

So I’ll tell you once again
Before your head gets thick,
I just throw a little jelly
And see if it will stick.
