Sheltering
by
MUSHROOM MONTOYA

Sheltering
I turn my body to face the beach
Sheltering
I try to hide away from the pain.
Sheltering,
I turn to escape his death
But, Crashing
The waves of grief knock me
Crashing
Against beach of anguish,
Crashing,
Face first into the sand
I try to rise
I try to breath
I gag
I choke
I plead,
Please, no more
Please, no more
I want my son back
Sheltering
I turn my body to face the beach
Sheltering
I catch the tears in my hands,
Sheltering
I close my eyes and still see
That he is no longer here
He is no longer here
Sheltering
I turn my body to face the beach
Sheltering
I try to hide away from the pain.
Please, no more
Please, no more
I want my son back

Mushroom:
Our son was an organ donor. His organs gave life to four others.
