Come Christmas
by
David Whitehead

Winter deftly settles to ground,
an all-encompassing heaviness.
Her vapor grip crushes dormant grass
as blades plead for April’s warm embrace.

We too, are in December.
Feeling pressure, pushing vainly
against inevitability.

Let there be no rush or worry
for what is bought, or not.
Let the Gift come to you,
only wait for it to be.

Come Christmas.
