listening

i don't hear You when You speak
i am not listening
i'm still new
at communicating with You, Lord

please be patient with me
may i learn to listen for Your voice
in the soothing wind
and in the songs of the birds

You are all around me
and in me
yet...
yet You are not hidden from me

i must be unwilling to free myself
from the burden of my thoughts
help me to become as a child again
caught up in the newness and the wonder of it all
