Blue Hues
by
ann taylor

The blue hues here
bend in, burst open
and double back on each other
and seem created uniquely for this
day. Winter's grasp is lovely and raw.
Canada Geese walk in single file across
a jeweled push of ice, grey turqoise blush
under crushed diamonds.
The sky is open. It lays
bolder on the water, becoming
something new, rounded to clear, soft to
crisp, old to young, and it seems
the more grateful I am,
the quicker these already
accelerated days bumble
through my fingers,
spilled coins on stairs,
hurried grasps at
middle age. I didn't know
it would be so short, so soon.

I love your lines, "It lays\ bolder on the water" and "spilled coins on stairs." They lit up my senses and imagination.
