Children of a Rhythmless World
by
Janice Hamilton

The world is losing its rhythm
As doves crash into translucent prisms
Of man-made cold steel towers
And the silence of a rhythmless world
Is broken by the screams of boys and girls
True joy and glee they negate
And find humor in the doves' sad fate
Unaware of the hollow black void
Where their own faces used to be

The world is losing its rhythm
As mothers drive their faceless children
Into depths of translucent lakes
And still the silence of a rhythmless world
Is broken by screams of boys and girls
Their sorrow and pain so innate
They find comfort in their own dire fate
Unaware of the hollow black void
Where their own souls used to be
