A Fish Out Of Water
by
Noah Frey

Incarcerated by another world, rippling the plane of origin.
A net is your prison now.
A soldier, distraught from battle, gives me a walleyed stare.
Lances at the ready, the worthy warrior waits.
Thermopylae ensues.
His mark is not forgotten
His icy tomb awaits.

Your rendering of a fish's fate hooked me. I read it a second, and then a third time, savoring the quality of each line, yet touched by sadness at its demise. Thank you for sharing it. Russ
