The Good In The Gold
by
Barbara Britton

In these, my Golden Years,
which sometimes feel gold plated
with spontaneous rusty eruptions
uninvited and unwelcome
I find there is an upside to aging.

Forgiveness comes easier
self-centered people become tolerable
kindness comes more naturally
expectations are lowered or erased
thankfulness is a gift to be treasured

I have come to terms with the fact
my best may never be enough
that I choose to be happy, or not
I cannot blame others for my emotions
they are my responsibility

I finally realize the full meaning
of forgiveness and the many warnings
of being judgmental, in the Bible
and in the other great spiritual teachings,
how it is myself I can harm the most

Walk as I must to the end of my journey
I will try to give the world my best
find happiness in small things
gratefulness for what I have
In finality it is between me and my God

Reed:
what beautiful choreographic of the aging processing and coming to terms with it. It seemed like a dance. Good work
