The Day To Come
by
Randy Cadenhead

Christmas Eve dawns clear
Of a year’s fears and doubts
Crisp chill and fresh with
Visions of sugar cookies
Sleighs and wintery snow
That may as yet coat
Our gingerbread house
On this expectant day
When even the gravest
Believe in miracles
And smile inside
Knowing that a few
May yet come true
And that at the end of the day
When the sun has passed at last
We will each and every one
After the year’s struggles
Look up in the night sky
For one bright star in the east
And a reason to believe
In the day to come tomorrow
