One hundred
by
jeston froehlich

He lie awake choking down another one hundred
Years had gone by proving what? That he loved it?
Restless and sore he gets up once more
He scratches and strains to fight with the door
He'd love to get out of this mess he's encountered
Digging holes in his mind he's finally found where
The meanings uncertain it helps him believe
That all of these ambitions with time to achieve
What is it, over there, a meaningless stare
Those thoughts sure add up but do not compare
Overwhelmed he sits enduring a silence
Not much in motion but oh in his mind is
Recognizable visions he dare not explore
What once brought him happy now such a chore
Trying to fight still he gives it a shot
"I know I can do this". Its all that he's got
He wants to turn things from upside down
But when he confronts them he's left with a frown
Minuscule meanings envelop his conscious
He's screaming inside and knows that he wants this
Feeling to fade the problems he's made
Seeings believing what he is achieving
