Still Dancing
by
Daniel Hathaway

she clasped my left hand into her right palm
rested her other hand
on my right shoulder,
and smiled at me
like the Sun smiles at the Earth
warm and inviting
though this would be far from
the first time we’d danced together
it felt
spring-like
and butterflies indeed
flitted their wings in my stomach

music
filled the air
and her elegance
filled the room
and love for my wife
filled my eyes all over again
as I realized fifteen years in a moment

and we're still dancing
