Open the Window
by
Margie Cohen

Open the window when I die.

This worn out body
all used up,
Don't be fooled.
I'm ready for
the next thing.
I am an eager traveler
waiting
amid flesh and bone.

Open the window when I die.

A gust of wind,
chilly and crisp as an apple
Will lift me
arms spread wide.
swimming in a newborn sea.

I had joy to overflowing
while loving you.
Joy so real
so solid
it will exist in your world
and in mine.

Please
Open the window when I die.
