Friends 09/04/2010

You don't know me "friend"

And I don't care, so what's the difference

I wont watch you pretend

To be concerned with my existence

My life is not some game

What makes you think I'll let you play it

No you can't have my name

I'm not ok. No. Leave me alone! Shit.

This isn't your battle, this isn't your fight

You have no idea what you're getting into

I'm not some maiden in a fairytale

You're definitely not my shining knight

I have no interest in your lovers dream

We aren't living in a fable

You're not a lonely king searching for his queen

You want that story, you might try cable

How is it supposed to feel

When you know, and no one will listen

If you think love is real

Even the pain will glisten

Though my heart break is not new

It is still bleeding and fresh

And I know it wasn't you

But I see his visage in your flesh

Try your luck somewhere else

And if you're left dumbstruck with the crippled organ in your hands

Meet me here and we'll talk

Make bitter jokes and murderous plans

And maybe become friends

Thank you jahughes436. I'm very flattered to have brought Bob Dylan to mind, and though it is quit telling of my youth I must admit had never heard "Positively Fourth Street" before. I hope your pleased to know you have led me to a new favorite for my eclectic musical tastes.

I like this poem. it calls to mind Bob Dylan's "Positively Fourth Street" which opens: "You've got a lot of nerve to say you are my friend. When I was down you just stood there grinning." Unlike Dylan's song/poem this poem has a shot of hope at the end. I love the second stanza and it's punch line "You want that story, you might try cable. The first three stanzas have a great rhythmic feel to them, the fourth I'm having trouble with but that might just be me. Nice poem.
