Dancing Leaves
by
Judith Hartberg

Maple and oak leaves
are dancing
in the yard.
Flying up to the rooftop
twirling and
whirling, flights
of red and orange
and brown.
Sun blazes through
and dark clouds
cover the sky
in alternating
sequences.
A taste of fall and summer
and a taste of winter
swirls through
it all, a dance
of light, a
dance of death.
