Cross-quarter Sevenling
by
Bill Batcher

[Note: you said you couldn't find a poem for Ground Hog's Day. So here is my tribute to Feb. 2 and the other three cross-quarters. It appears in my book Celebrations, available on Amazon]

Cross-quarter Sevenling
by Bill Batcher

We cavort around maypoles,
play hell night tricks,
and annoy sleepy groundhogs,

All because we're restless.
A season's only half over
and we wish it gone.

Relax, solstice and equinox won't be late.

This is a perfect poem for my restless self as I contemplate removing another 15 inches of snow or,maybe, a move to sunny Florida.
