mixed with the ground
by
ryan erdmann

we have to choose
something to eat
the question becomes
eat you
or eat me
if the food is the other
and dies at your hand
are you willing and ready
to worship the land
to accept you're a slave
to the world that you see
dependent on Mother
to allow you to be

but if you are the food
that you put in your mouth
if everything's in and nothing is out
then chewing a thing
just moves it around
and life isn't lost
when your mixed with the ground

My mistake! The word 'third' should be 'this'. The fault of elderly fingers.

I find third difficult to understand - being old-fashioned I think punctuation would have helped
