Moving House
by
Donal Mahoney

In England they call it
moving house
packing everything
going someplace else

bigger better
staying there until
you move someplace
bigger better.

It’s just the opposite
when you get older
and have to downsize
as they say in America.

Then you move
someplace smaller
and wait until you die.
No packing then.

You go off as you are
with what you’ve done
and haven’t done.
The landlord's waiting
