Kiss
by
Brendan Curran

Here is the feeling of feelings
A fleeting blind instant where all sense is numbed
Save one, secret one, unlocked as if by magic
Like other senses except somehow brighter
That speaks, not to ears, eyes, touch
But through things like them, directly to the soul
And tells it that, in this breathless moment,
Passion reigns lovely, and the world waits for it.
This is the answer to why and how,
The reason for reason,
What is meant by ‘follow your heart’,
And was found in a kiss and nothing more.
And you were there.

I loved this poem. My first kiss with my wife is mythic but only because it was so bad. I like this better.
