For All You Ageing Rockers

I’ve listened and I’ve heard, noted every word,
‘til I’ve lost all self-control.
I’m still inclined to say, everything has gone astray.
Bring back that sweet Rock’n’Roll.

There was a Whole Lot of Shaking
while we were making love By the Silvery Moon.
There was Buddy, there was Eddie, Gene sang Ready Teddy,
and we smooched to the sound of Pat Boone.

Chuck was a’talkin’, Ricky was a’walkin’,
Fats was playing with soul.
The Everlys in harmony, it all meant so much to me,
bring back that sweet Rock’n’Roll.

There was a whole Mess of Blues, some Blue Suede Shoes,
a juke box, soda, and you.
Sweet Little Sixteen, a Teenage Queen,
you swore that you’d always be true.

Cruising in my car, strumming a guitar,
taking trips to the movies and bowl.
Falling in love each day, the only thing that I can say,
bring back that sweet Rock’n’Roll.

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away ("Drift Away" by Dobie Gray). Thank you Michael for your lyrical poem that speaks to what is and will always be the romance of Rock'n'Roll.

One of the supervisors at the LARGE marketplace where I cashier is a seasoned citizen like myself. Whenever she and I are on the same shift, the store music is old time rock and roll. I can sing along to just about every song, while I work. I love it.
