New and Improved

Spring this year (thank God) has sprung
unsung in a variety
of sizes: like new things that pop
up on the shelves (unannounced)
of your local grocery:

Single serving Spring perfect for
gray February, when you
need that one day to wash winter
from your car, your shoes, your life;

Bonus-portioned family-sized
Spring, boxed and completely re-usable,
for those miserable weeks in
March when the school calendar
says Spring and your kids do, too,
but the closest you’ll get to Florida
sunshine pours out of a carton
you found on sale in aisle three.

If only the good folks at
Mother Nature Incorporated
could invent travel-sized Spring
for the wallet or purse, or even
smaller (like Lifesavers)
wrapped-in-cellophane Spring—
You could carry them In your pocket,
slide one under your tongue for
when you need it most—

Wait for that glorious jolt
of new Spring to sing like daffodils
every time you open your mouth.

No wonder you always write such beautiful and charged poetry--with that adoring audience of five lovely granddaughters! I can't help but wonder if one or two of them helped you with the book cover of Poetry by Mike Orlock!

I loved this delightful charming poem from the title to the last line. I am a Mike Orlock fan because of his fresh imagery and ideas: Mother Nature Incorporated and single serving, bonus size, travel size spring.
