The humid air hums. Green glistens.
Umbrella sky a boundless blue.
Each deep breath an explosion of plants
leaping from earth to lariat the sun.
Blades of grass gleam tiny stars.
Indifferent to my passing, a robin worms.
Aspens shiver, spruce needles
shimmer tiny diamonds. A straggle of geese
overhead rambunctious in song.
Even that yappy dog is less grating.
From what we miss (thistledown press, 2010).

Gen, This is fabulous. A total celebration. Jayne, thank you for picking such wonderful poems. I am wondering if you would mind if I share this poem with high school students in an upcoming workshop? I think it would inspire them. ---Anjie Kokan
